Cynthia's Side

**based on the character Cynthia from the story of "Raymond's Run"**
Some people might think I'm a fake but if they really knew me they'd know that I have to be the best at everything because of my parents. They always pay attention to my talented, beautiful, and exciting older sister, Sarah. Sarah is the perfect daughter considering she has a 4.0 GPA, participates on the dance team, soccer team, and track team. My parents give her all of their attention and attend all of her games, meets, and academic events. But for me, I'm left alone and feel the need to prove I can be as good as my sister to my parents and friends. So I try to be the best at everything I do, even if that means lying. Sometimes I'll say I had no practice at piano and spelling, I was just born naturally with that talent; when what really happened was I practiced for four straight hours the night before. From having this certain trait of competitiveness my whole life, I feel like I have to be better than anyone, not just my sister but anyone. One person that I always want to beat is "Squeaky" who is a tough and confident girl in my grade. Squeaky has won every track meet and has a natural talent running. Even though I don't show it, I have great respect for her. However, I don't think she likes me that much. Probably because I lie and she can see through me, I mean I wouldn't want to be friends with a liar if I were her. Anyways, I've realized that lying isn't the right thing to do but I don't know how I can ever stop. I strive and thrive for the attention of my parents.
